@simoncampbell and I saw Yard Act in Lisboa a few months ago! They were really good live. Enigmatic lead singer and the merch guy was from Leeds and really friendly.

Strangely despite a lot of overlap I see in your posts, none of my selection correlate with yours! But that only means I've now got more stuff to check out...

The big hitters for me this year have been Adult Jazz, Nala Sinephro, Douglas Dare, Jack White, Alan Sparhawk, The Smile (but which one?), R.A.P. Ferreira, Big Brave and Dummy.

all this means is that there's SO MUCH music, not that our tastes don't align! i haven't listened to all of those but i love the smile (the 1st one, you prefer the 1st one), adult jazz, and dummy. gonna be adding the rest to my list.

do you know them already? excited to hear your thoughts!

I do NOT! But I listened to like 5 seconds of one song from each album and I was like YES! This is IT! Now I am listening to them both all the way through and they are really good. Always here for something that sounds baroque or melodramatic or sort of gauzy, and I'm finding all of that here.

you'll really love last dinner party then

If you remember That Petrol Emotion 4/5ths of them are now in a band called Everlasting Yeah and their record Staying Cool Staying Free is simply magnificent

I love how you state in your opinion who a group sounds like. I do that all of the time and it helps me find more

Have you listened to ‘Tigers Blood’ by Waxahatchee? That’s my tied number 1 with ‘Absolute Elsewhere’ by Blood Incantation (which is a bit more of an acquired taste - progressive death metal)

i have but it made no impression on me (her stuff hasn't in so, so long)...i have to admit i kind of go in pre-bored. i need to give it another shot.

blood incantation is seemingly everyone's acquired taste favorite this year, so i'll be giving that a try too!

Definitely fair - I've heard that from others too!

Trust me, you will not be bored with Blood Incantation! 'Absolute Elsewhere' is one hell of a ride!

I really enjoyed Yard Act's album! I watched their documentary on a flight back from London recently and enjoyed that too.

With Willie continuing to turn out stuff, it will be hard to turn my attention to contemporary groups. https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxDHATnT2DAzFW57jKI9tXepwFsx2Cg_h9?si=8VE4KZohlBc8kGpg
