Previously:
Oh, lordy. We’re already polishing off the first quarter of 2025.
Predictably, I’m feeling some regret for the albums I overlooked, but I’ll remind myself (and all of you) that keeping up with new releases isn’t supposed to be like playing Pokémon. You can’t catch ‘em all. You’ll probably die trying.
I very likely missed your favorite, so please head to the chat, the comments, or the Discord server to tell everyone else what you’ve been listening to this month.
A reminder that monthly roundups past the first three albums are for paid subscribers, but everyone can keep track alongside me as I bookmark all of my favorite songs throughout the year.
Playlist: Best Tracks of 2025
Also on Amazon, Apple, Tidal, and YouTube.
(A little tip for those who don’t want to or can’t pay — referring friends to the newsletter gets you comped for a while.)
invite you to a pre-release Album Listening Party

WHERE: NBfOH Discord Server
HOW: Paid Subs, check your e-mail for Discord access. Everyone else, purchase your ticket here.
The Best Albums of March 2025
I don’t rank; albums are listed in alphabetical order.
clipping. - Dead Channel Sky
Raise your hand if you didn’t realize either that famous Hollywood actor Daveed Diggs is also an incredibly talented hip hop artist. How embarrassing for the three of us! He’s a third of clipping., who just released their sixth (!) record, one that will remind you of Outkast and early ‘90s trip hop and electronica. It’s stellar. (Standout track: Change the Channel)
Glazyhaze - SONIC
This Italian dream-pop/shoegaze band gives a harder, more haunting twist to the potentially oversaturated genre. Imagine if both Kurt Cobain and Angelo Badalamenti had a hand in producing a Lush record. (Standout track: WHAT A FEELING)
HotWax - Hot Shock
This is a debut from a band I suspect might get the “industry plant” treatment soon enough, if they haven’t already. Young newcomers with an all-female, all-star production team rarely escape unscathed. But even with a bit of suspicion, I keep returning to this blend of ‘70s glam, ‘90s grunge, and 2000s sleaze. Courtney Love fans take note. (Standout track: Dress Our Love)
